Atlantic Refit Center La Rochelle-Pallice : a new solution for Superyacht refits

Drydock facilities at the Atlantic Refit Center

October 2006. With ITM operating at full capacity and the refit contract for a 94 metre superyacht in the offing, director of ACA Marine France, Chris Atkinson, didn’t need to look further than Acamarine’s own home port to find a cost effective facility. The Port Autonome in La Rochelle provided just the solution for the repaint as well as elements of the refit. Port Autonome provided support for ITM’s specialist tradesmen and committed to install the necessary service infrastructure needed to complete the job on time within a 6 month schedule. Director of ACA Marine France, Chris Atkinson explained, “The success of the project has meant that we are now working alongside The Port Autonome to develop a facility that will attract more contracts of the same calibre. The result is the ‘Atlantic Refit Center’, a facility dedicated to superyacht repair and refit.” The Atlantic Refit Center can provide two dry docks with a 300-ton elevator. The largest dry dock is 176 metres long by 21.86 metres wide, and the second is 107 metres long by 13.84 metres wide. An industrial paint booth for yachts up to 38 metres in length will be operational in early 2008. A network of skilled co-contractors in a variety of trades from marine mechanics, hull and structural work, pipe works, electronics to carpentry can be sourced locally.
